Windows on Main St will once again be happening this August.
This year, we are planning for 20 window installations. Acting curators for this year will be Karlos Carcamo, Matthew Slaats, Christian Toscano and myself. Each curator will be choosing 5 local, regional and national artists to participate in the exhibit. One of this year's window installations will be conceived and executed by a small group of students working under the guidance of a local artist. We are currently discussing the events that will accompany the exhibit- like the walking tour of the windows, which is our main event - more information on that will be avaible soon.
If you are interested in having your storefront considered for participation in the exhibit, please send an email to me at info@maykr.com
As the number of projects are limited, we obviously will not be able to utilize all the windows that may be offered to us for use, but we are very grateful for your willingness to participate.
The resulting artists' installations will be on view from Aug. 9 through Sept. 13 2008.
Final decision for the placement of projects will be made by the artists based on the nature of their work and where they feel they can best create a piece. The artists will determine the nature and look of the installation while conforming to specific limitations set by the business owners such as space constraints.
I hope to have businesses and artists matched up within the next couple of weeks, (by the end of April at the latest.) When we have the line up determined, one of the curators will contact you about meeting with the artist and discussing the artist's proposal for your window.
As our artists' works are being generously hosted by you, we want to make every effort to keep you informed on the progress of the projects. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Examples of projects from previous years can be found at http://beaconwindows.blogspot.com
